Frequently Asked Questions:

What is the Windermere Centre?

URC-LOGO-greyscaleThe Windermere Centre is a training centre in Windermere, in the English Lake District, run by the United Reformed Church.

We have 20 bedrooms (mostly singles, twins and family rooms), and several meeting rooms.

The Windermere Centre mission is “to resource the church through hospitality and theological adventure”.

What can I do at the Windermere Centre?

You can come and stay with us, perhaps for a course or for a break. We run a programme of events arranged in response to requests from our guests. You can find out more about this on our Events page.

You are welcome to join any of the open events, or to ask us to help you plan one of your own. This could be a group booking, or something you’d like us to help you set up as an open event so that others can join in too. If you’d like to find out more, please get in touch with us – we’d love to have a chat with you.

How much does it cost?

We won’t charge you a fee. We ask you to pay what you can, and what you think the visit was worth. If you’d like to pay more than you are able, you can make an application to the Hannah Fund to help make up the difference (please ask us for more details).

We want everyone to be able to access the resources the Windermere Centre is offering. We’re here because we believe in trying to make a difference for the better, and because we believe that we can learn from each other how better to love and forgive and grow. We invite you to come and be part of the change.

To find out more about our ‘pay what you can’ policy, please read our Frequently Asked Questions document

What is the Hannah Fund?

The Hannah Fund exists to ensure that no-one is prevented by cost from attending the Windermere Centre. For more information, please see the Hannah Fund Leaflet.

Can groups book the Windermere Centre?

Yes, absolutely. To find out more about group bookings, please contact us.

We’re working on a new group booking information pack, and will post that here as soon as it is ready.

What is it like at the Windermere Centre?

You can read about some of our guests’ experiences on our “Your Stories” page. If you’d like to have a look, please visit our gallery page. If you’d like to know more, please don’t hesitate to ask us – we’re very friendly, and are happy to help.

To get a flavour of what things are like behind the scenes, you can view our ‘Hospitality’ video series, which we recorded as part of the Windermere Online Festival 2016.
