Opportunities for Young People
Young people bring fresh ideas, energy and perspective to church life. At Windermere United Reformed Church, we want young people to feel welcome, valued and able to take part in ways that interest them.
Explore faith and ask questions
Church can be a place to explore life’s big questions, discover more about the Christian faith and share your own point of view. There’s no need to have everything figured out: curiosity and honest conversation are welcome.
Get involved
There are many ways to contribute to the life of a church community. Young people might enjoy helping with a service, sharing music or creative ideas, supporting a community activity, or suggesting something new. Taking part can be a chance to build confidence, learn practical skills and make a difference alongside others.
Find connection and community
Being part of a church can offer opportunities to meet people, form friendships and feel connected to the wider Windermere community. Whether you’re looking for a place to belong, a chance to help others or space to reflect, you’re welcome to come along and find out more.
Come and find out more
Opportunities and activities can change over time. If you’re a young person, or a parent or carer looking for information, please contact Windermere United Reformed Church to ask what’s currently available. We’d be pleased to help you find a way to get involved.
Exploring Youth Opportunities: Understanding the Pillars, Key Organisations, and Future Programmes in the UK

What are the 5 pillars of youth work UK?
There is no single, officially agreed list of the “five pillars” of youth work across the UK, but the approach is commonly described through principles such as voluntary participation, putting young people at the centre, building trusting relationships, inclusion and empowerment. In practice, this means young people choose to take part, have a say in activities, are treated with respect and are supported to develop confidence, skills and independence. These principles help make youth work welcoming, relevant and shaped by the needs and interests of young people.
What are the big 6 youth organizations?
There isn’t one universally agreed list called the “Big Six” youth organisations in the UK. The phrase may be used informally for major uniformed groups, such as Scouts, Girlguiding, the Boys’ Brigade, the Girls’ Brigade, the Cadet Forces and St John Ambulance. Each offers different activities and opportunities, so it’s worth checking their websites to see what’s available locally.
What is the youth opportunities program?
The youth opportunities programme is a way for young people to get involved in the life of Windermere United Reformed Church, explore faith, meet others and contribute their ideas and skills. Activities may include helping with services, taking part in creative or community projects, and joining conversations about questions that matter to them. Please contact the church to find out what opportunities are currently available.
What is the Global youth Opportunities 2025?
“Global Youth Opportunities 2025” may refer to international programmes offering young people opportunities in areas such as education, volunteering, leadership and cultural exchange. The name is used for a range of initiatives, so check the organiser’s website for current details, eligibility and deadlines. It is not a specific Windermere United Reformed Church programme; please contact us if you’re looking for youth activities or opportunities in our church community.
